challenging weekend in Le Mans
Third round of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe was held on the legendary 13.6 km Circuit De La Sarthe, Le Mans. A first also for Milos considering he raced only on the smaller, permanent circuit Le Mans “Bugatti”.
The weekend proved to be extremely challenging for all the drivers due to a very limited driving time. 45 minutes of one single free practice, two qualifying sessions of 15 minutes each and the usual two races of 50 minutes. For the car #33 things turned from difficult to bad when in the first and only free practice, on lap three, the rear left tire exploded. Luckily Miloš was driving the car at the time, considering the tire blew up at 285 km/h, it wasn’t an easy task to keep the car in line. Still, the damage provoked by the tire at this speed meant the end of the session for Miloš and Alessio.
In qualifying Miloš was the first to go out on track. He set his first lap which was in the end the only one he managed to do. Once again a problem with the rear left tire meant he had to retire the car. This meant he qualified only in P17. Alessio, considering he only did 4 laps in qualifying, did well to qualify in P45. Even if the practice and qualifying sessions didn’t go as planned, Miloš and the team knew the potential was there.
Race 1 proved them right. Miloš recovered from P17 to P8 in his stint. Once Alessio took the wheel he kept learning the track and brought the car back home in P31. Better wasn’t possible given the circumstances.
Second race in programme was cancelled for safety reasons due to the fact that too many tires blew up during the weekend.
“I enjoyed so much driving on this circuit. it’s just an incredible experience. the race went as it went but we knew it would be a difficult one here as you can’t test and the track time is very limited. I hope to come back and do the 24h race”.
